Perceived stress, distress, stress, and burnout are terms you are all too familiar with, and incorporating self-care practices may seem difficult when you are in the grips of mental entropy. But self-care practices improve stress management, focus and clarity, anxiety, and depression. The work you provide is more meaningful than the stress it creates. Understanding the connection between your aptitude and passion contributes to improved mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual self-care.
Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: - Identify basic components of self-care and wellness;
- Explain the effect of wellness activities on physical and mental health; Employ strategies for managing stress, including mindfulness techniques;
- Define the concept of resilience and name strategies that can be used to enhance health;
- Apply wellness concepts to give permission to care for oneself; and
- Recognize the role of healthy behavior in managing the ethical challenges of a medical practice.
