  Description

As a physician, you strive to maintain quality standards medically, professionally, and ethically.

However, despite your efforts, you may find yourself the subject of a Texas Medical Board (TMB) investigation. If so, you need to understand how your responses and actions throughout the process may affect you now and in the future.

Under the authority of the Texas Legislature, TMB is responsible for licensing and disciplining physicians, and adopting and enforcing board rules that regulate the practice of medicine in Texas. It also has authority for disciplinary investigations and actions.

Specific topics include:
  • TMB priority areas for disciplinary review;
  • Settlement options;
  • Which violations get reported, and how;
  • Consulting an attorney;
  • Making the process go smoothly; and
  • Cases involving physician substance abuse.
