Amphetamines are riding the wave of the opiate epidemic and creating new challenges for physicians. This session will outline the history of previous stimulant epidemics and how pharmaceutical companies today are using the opioid playbook to boost sales of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) treatments. It also will examine the neurochemical basis of addiction and how stimulants create unique addiction sequelae.
