How physicians are practicing medicine is shifting with the growth of mobile technologies. Surveys reveal that physicians want to be able to use it to access electronic health records, prescribe medication, and communicate with colleagues, clinical staff, and even patients. The general consensus is that using mobile technology in health care can help streamline its delivery and save time for doctors and patients alike.

But using mobile technology raises concerns about patient privacy, workflow, recordkeeping, and more. This webinar will discuss trends in mobile technology and how they can effectively play out in a medical practice.

Timothy C. Gueramy, MD, Founder and CEO

Tim Gueramy MD, DocbookMD Founder and CEO first found his passion for the field of medicine from his father who is also a surgeon. Though Tim always had an interest in technology, it was no surprise that he would end up studying biology, and ultimately, medicine. After receiving his Bachelors of Science from the University of Michigan, he moved to Dublin, Ireland, where he worked in the Anatomy Department of the Royal College of Surgeons and developed the first interactive histology program – still used by students as a learning tool. Shortly thereafter, he completed his M.D. at Wayne State University where he later did an internship and residency in orthopedics. Tim packed up and made his way to the east coast where he did a one-year Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Orthopedics in Portland, Maine, and completed board certification in Orthopedic Surgery. During the past few years of practicing medicine in Austin, Tim and his wife, Tracey, have taken part in many medical trips abroad – one earned him a Healthcare Heroes Award for his work in Haiti after the earthquake in 2010. In 2008, Tim and Tracey applied their heart for the practice of medicine to their passion for technology and formed DocbookMD.

    Tracey A. Haas, DO, MPH

Tracey Haas, DO, MPH, is cofounder and chief medical officer of DocbookMD. She is a rural-trained family physician who has practiced in Austin, Texas, for the past eight years. Always with a focus on international medicine and global health, for the past seven years she has served as the medical director of the Austin-based nonprofit The Miracle Foundation which cares for orphaned children in India.
