The five-year survival rate for patients with Stage 1 colorectal cancer is 90. Unfortunately, the majority of cases are not caught until much later. This course provides the most current information on screening options for average risk patients. Explain the evidence supporting clinical recommendations for colorectal cancer screening. Assess risk for colorectal cancer and assist patients in determining the screening method(s) most appropriate for them. Discuss appropriate screening practices and avoid ineffective ones. Determine common barriers to colorectal cancer screening, and learn about strategies to address those barriers. Employ steps to improve screening in practice.
